The Foundation has
developed for thirty years research projects with the aim of acquiring insight
into each of the factors and variables that influence the literacy skills and
the reading behavior.
The results are disseminated through papers, seminars and training tools as a
means of knowledge transfer. Some of the studies can be viewed on digital resources section or can be found in the various publications by the
Foundation.
The research is supported by the experiences that are programmed according to
the methodological framework applied in each case; always seeking evidence to
measure the effectiveness of our projects. Along with that permanent testing
activity other investigations are also carried out in collaboration with or
commissioned by the Spanish Public Administrations, mainly focused on reading
behavior, public libraries indicators and standards, the impact of ICT and
literacy within schools.
The Foundation's main instrument for these purposes is the Department of Analysis and Studies.
The Foundation has agreements with the Ministry of Culture of Spain, Ministry
of Education of Spain, as well with some Regional Governments as Castilla y
León, Extremadura, Andalucía and Castilla-La Mancha and develops specific and
timely investigations with other regional authorities and local. Therefore within
this framework of collaboration with public bodies, the Foundation is part of
the steering committees and the technical commissions of the Observatories created
by national Administration and some Regional Governments.
