The Department of Analysis and Studies (DAE), established in 2009 and directly depending on the management of the Foundation, puts one of the strategic lines of the institution in practice: the research on reading. In this way, the Department intends to respond to the need and demand of rigorous and independent information about public reading landscape in Spain.

Objetives and guidelines

. To provide society, institutions and other agents with rigorous and up to date knowledge about reading, books and libraries in order to guide and evaluate programs.

. To show the wide reality of reading in Spain from an open point of view and paying special attention to social changes.

. To highlight keys to success for projects on public reading and to identify obstacles to the development of these projects.

. To respond to specific analysis and information needs.

. To disseminate the most relevant aspects of reading and its importance for citizens.

The Department works in collaboration with several public and private Spanish institutions.
