The Centre for Social and Cultural Development hosts and provides the services of the Local Public Library of Peñaranda de Bracamonte, through a collaboration agreement with the City Council, which simultaneously supports its upkeep. Its mission is to promote literacy habits to stimulate and satisfy the educational, information and leisure demands of the citizens.
It is a reading and information public service, open to any single or collective user, adapted to the new challenges of the information society. Library card is required to use some of its services. Anyone can join the library, regardless of his or her age or address, by filling in an application form and bringing a photo.
The Local Library is included in the regional Library System of Castilla y León and it is integrated in the Provincial Coordinator Centre of Salamanca. As the head of its region, its activities reach other nearby libraries whose city councils have also signed collaboration agreements with the Foundation.
